Gary grew up in California, enjoying beaches, Disneyland, movie star sightings, and lots of sun. He attended CSU Northridge, majoring in the incredibly practical field of Religious Studies, and went on to spend years as a professional musician in the world of rock, pop, soul, Beatles, and hippies.

He entered the wine industry as the regional manager for a French glass maker, where he worked with wineries in California as well as Chateau Ste, Michelle in the Woodinville area.  The French company had their own private vineyards. On his visits to the factory, Gary was introduced to many excellent wines that were only available from small local villages and estates. He gained an appreciation for everyday table wines to limited, special occasion wines.

Outside of the tasting room, Gary stays busy with Patti, his wife of thirty-five years, their three adult children, and an array of four-legged friends. He maintains relations with the wine makers and restaurateurs that were an important part of his wine “upbringing”.
