Soil Type: An Alluvial Fan river bed and Silty loam. We use a drip irrigation and VSP trellising system.
The vineyard is located in an area where the Missoula flood came through Walla Walla. The vine floor is blanketed with old river rock. The combination of full sun and the heat soaked rocks makes it a classic location for the varieties planted. We get great drainage and with spacing at 8 feet by 5 feet, helps us keep our canopy in optimal position to provide protection to the clusters. The area is fairly windy which help us manage mildew and disease.
The vineyard is recognized as Vinea which categorizes it as using sustainable practices. As the vineyard matures we will continue to introduce mustard, wild flower and other vegetation to help promote beneficial insects.
