Whistling Hills Sidebar

Location: Walla Walla AVA in Walla Walla, Washington.

Acreage: 8 acres planted in 2006.

Varietals: Syrah, Roussanne, Viognier, Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon.

2009 was the first vintage we were graced with being able to use our estate fruit in the final blends.

Soil Type: Loess, deep rich soil. This type of soil is great for the plants because it allows the roots to grow far into the ground.

Climate: This vineyard is the back drop of our winery. Planted at 23 degrees off North allows for the perfect sun exposure.

Sustainability: We use drip irrigation and planted 9 feet by 6 feet. This helps the plants hold water well. Our cover crops consist of sheep fescue and wheat grass. The row head is lined with lavender.
Whistling Hills is recognized as Vinea using sustainable practices.
