In the Tasting Room...

What a nice month it has been. Tertulia Cellars tasting room opened on schedule for the Spring Release Weekend. I want to thank everyone who came to visit us during our grand opening. It was nice to see so many new faces. All the wines seem to be a great hit. I am also pleased that so many of you love the Les Collines Syrah, (my favorite)!

In The Vineyard

The vineyard around the winery, which is yet to be named, is finally planted. We should be getting our first estate fruit in 2009. The other vineyards around Eastern Washington look great. Probably the best Spring in the past few years. Now all we have to do is pray for sun for the next several months!

In the Barrel Room

I finally moved all our 2006 barrels to the new winery. It was a bit nerve racking when we realized our new bottling machine was too large to fit through our cellar doors. Luckily I was able to get it in with some careful help from Christina!

The ‘06 wines taste great in barrel. I think the 2006 vintage is setting up to be our best yet. Merlots and Cabs have amazing structure, classical fruit characteristics and a mind blowing finish!

The 2006 Syrah will be from Les Collines vineyard in Walla Walla. Sorry no Columbia Valley Syrah but the Les Collines Syrah has the same creamy mouth feel that so many of you enjoyed in our 2005 Columbia Valley Syrah.

The wine formerly known as Red Table Wine will now be called Sobra! It’s a Portuguese word meaning leftovers. We try not to take our selves too seriously here at Tertulia Cellars. The 2006 Sobra will be a blend of Bordeaux varietals just as our 2005 Red Table Wine.

We also have some very exciting wines in barrel for our wine club members. We have a delicious 2006 Semillon Ice Wine. It came in at a whopping 41degrees brix. We also have Tempranillo, Malbec and Carmenere. Many people have asked about these wines and how they can get some. Unfortunately case production is very small so our wine club gets the first shot at these wines. So if you want to get your hands on some of our small lots then now is the time to sign up for our wine club.

Cheers,
